Terms of Use & Disclaimer

1. License & "AS IS" Provision

OpenDocBot is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

The software is distributed under the OpenDocBot License. By using, copying, modifying, or distributing the software, you agree to the terms of that license. These Terms of Use govern your use of the hosted add-in and website; the software license governs the source code.

2. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the developer or contributors of OpenDocBot be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages (including, but not limited to, loss of data, document corruption, business interruption, or financial loss) arising out of or in connection with the use or inability to use this application.

3. User Responsibility & AI Output

  • Accuracy of AI Models: You acknowledge that Large Language Models (LLMs) can produce inaccurate, misleading, or biased outputs ("hallucinations"). You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying any text or data generated before applying it to your documents.
  • API Key Management & Costs: You are responsible for securing your own API keys and monitoring any usage fees incurred with third-party LLM providers.
  • Document Content: You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to send any document content, selections, or prompts to the AI provider you configure, and for complying with the applicable policies of that provider.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use OpenDocBot to:

  • Engage in any unlawful, harmful, or abusive activity, or infringe the rights of others.
  • Attempt to disrupt, disable, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying software except as expressly permitted by the OpenDocBot License.
  • Misrepresent that the add-in or its AI outputs are affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft.

5. Termination

Your rights under these Terms continue while you use OpenDocBot. We may suspend or terminate access to the hosted instance if you breach these Terms, or for operational or security reasons. You may stop using the add-in at any time; sections that by their nature survive termination (including Limitation of Liability, Governing Law, and Disclaimers) will remain in effect.

6. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the add-in after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

7. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of OpenDocBot shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Spain.

8. Microsoft Disclaimer

OpenDocBot is an independent, open-source project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft. "Microsoft", "Word", "Excel", and "PowerPoint" are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.
